Barrie married Fre Eldridge in 1966. She met Fred when she visited Statesboro to see her brother. Fred and Barries brother worked together. Their first child was Matt, who was born in 1969. Their second child was Beth, born in 1974. Matt is married to Susan and they have two children, Emma (11) and Hank (9). Matt works for the US Forest Service in Marion, NC. Beth married Charley. She owns her own wedding business on the NC outer banks.

Barrie worked as a preschool teacher. She is currently retired, but subs when needed. Barrie and Fred are currently healthy and plan to stay active. Barrie works out at the Y three times each week. Fred plays tennis on a 70's team. Every July they hike Mount LeConte where the shortest trail is 5.5 miles long.

When their kids were small, Barrie and Fred spent many vacations camping. They also crossed the Atlantic on the Queen Mary II and visited Rome. Last fall Barrie went to China with her sister. Barrie and her siblings along with their spouses recently went to celebrate their respective wedding anniversaries in Hawaii: Jason and Susie 40; Barrie and Fred 45; Rod and Carole 50; Bev and Duane 55.

If she had it to do over, Barrie would DO MORE- study more, play harder, participate more, date more Tucker boys. Barrie started Tucker in the 8th grade. Her best friends were Mary Ann, Francis, Mary, Verene, and Diane. She will not divulge her crushes or even their existance.

Barrie loves to do hand work for gifts. She crochets a lot and likes to cook.

Barrie and Fred thought about retiring to their place in Helen after retiring. However, they would then be 12 hours away from their daughter and would miss all of the friends and connections that they have in Winston-Salem.
