We held a planning meeting on 11/8/11 at Rachel's house and another at the "Local 7" on 2/13/2012. Fun was had by all - join us next time. Here is our preliminary plan:
THURSDAY MAY 3, 2012
5:30-6:30 pm – Light h’orderves and cash bar at “Local
7” on Main street in Tucker
6:30-7:00 pm – Guided tours of the new Tucker High School Building
7:00-10:00 pm – Mingle with classmates in the Tucker High School cafeteria
About 7:30 pm – All you can eat dinner, catered by the Varsity
11 pm – bus leaves for Port Canaveral Florida and a weekend cruise
to the Bahamas – Cost of round trip bus ride is approximately $100

FRIDAY MAY 4, 2012
Bus should arrive at Port Canaveral about 10 am – allowing two 30
minute stretch stops and a 90 minute breakfast stop. Boarding does not officially
begin until 1 with departure at 4:30 pm. The ship is the Royal Caribbean
Monarch of the Seas.
SATURDAY MAY 5, 2012
Ship arrives at Nassau, Bahamas at noon and departs at 11:59 pm. Shore excursions
(if desired) can be booked on the ship or online now.
SUNDAY MAY 6, 2012
Ship arrives at Coco Cay, Bahamas at 8 am and departs at 5pm. Shore excursions
(if desired) can be booked on the ship or online now.
MONDAY MAY 7, 2012
Ship arrives at Port Canaveral at 7am. Disembarkation (including customs)
may take several hours. Bus leaves for Tucker at 11 am and arrives at 9
or 10 pm. We will stop for lunch and dinner.
Honey Hollingsworth has made arrangements to get discount rooms ($84) at the Hampton Inn at Northlake mall for those coming from out of town? Contact them directly and mention THS62 reunion. 3400 Northlake Parkway; Tucker, GA 30084; (770) 493-1966. They reserved a block of rooms for May 3 and May 7. Any rooms not booked by April 30 will be released.
Price for the Thursday activities will be $25 per person. You should confirm that you will attend by mailing a check to Lunnette Hudgins Cavender Minar (1101 Hacknee Court, NW; Lawrenceville, GA 30044; (770) 513-2781; lunette.minar@charter.net).
Per person price (based on double occupancy) for the cruise is $365.49/inside cabin - $398/obstructed outside view - $418/unobstructed outside view. Please bring labeled photos to the Thursday night event. We will have multiple cafeteria tables set up to display snapshots from our younger days and family photos that allow us to share our families (parents, siblings, spouses, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren) and adventures over the past 50 years. We will also have a computer and scanner available so that we can add your pictures to the memory book that we are creating.
We will have a professional photographer at our Thursday night activities and you will be offered the chance to purchase a commemorative CD of those photos. Be sure to take time to pose for these photos. We will publish a memory book that summarizes the events
of the past 50 years. The book will contain photos from this and past reunions.
We will also include photos from the cruise. The book will contain biographies
of our lives and will be available on line, on CD, on DVD as well as printed
book form. The “on line” version will be free and will allow
you to print it on your own printer. The other versions will be provided
at cost (which will be minimal). Please indicate which version you desire
when you return the enclosed questionnaire. We will have a preliminary version
available for browsing at the Thursday night event and you can wait until
then to reserve your copy. Please complete and return the enclosed questionnaire
so that we can begin creating this book. If you have email – I would
prefer that you email your reply so that I can copy and paste. In addition
to stories and the biographical questions, please include photos of yourself
and your family as you have aged gracefully.
This site is dedicated to sharing current and historical stories , pictures
and information about the Tucker, Georgia High School Class of 1962. Fifty
years after graduation, our class gives a new meaning to the term SENIORS.
